Their House

Home Alteration
Mount Maunganui

This extension and alteration is driven by a simple need: more space for our family to live and grow. Our existing home in Mount Maunganui no longer supports daily life with our two small children. Rather than relocate, we’re choosing to invest in the place and community we love, reworking our house will double its size and completely transform how we live in it.

The proposed design responds to the challenges and opportunities of our small site; its southern street frontage, sloping ground, and attached northern boundary. We’re creating spaces that are open and light-filled, with enough privacy and a balance of shared areas and quiet spots. The new area gives us clear, functional zones for living and entertaining, all within a compact footprint. Every square metre is being carefully planned to maximise comfort, functionality, and enjoyment. Overall, the design is modest but ambitious, supporting our family now and into the future.
